Kenin wins Mallorca Open 2019
First, Sofia Kenin won the hearts of the fans, after 2:45 hours also the final. The 20-year old American beat Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic 6-7 (2/7), 7-6 (7/5), 6-4.
Bencic got off to a hot start not granting Kenin a single point till it was 3-0. The American stayed calm, however, called her father and trainer Alexander Kenin on the court – and he obviously had the right advice for his daughter. It still would have been for naught if Bencic had made good on one of her three match points in the second set. But Kenin fought back, forced a third set, got the break to take a 5-4 lead and served out to win the match and the tournament.
